Arabic diploma translation for Nostrifikation and recognition
If you want to study or work in Austria with an Arabic degree, you need an Arabic diploma translation, and it has to be certified. It is required by universities and universities of applied sciences for admission and Nostrifikation, by ENIC NARIC Austria for the assessment of foreign qualifications, by the authorities for professional recognition, for example in healthcare or teaching, and by many employers.
These offices accept certified translations only. They are produced by court sworn and certified translators in Austria and carry a stamp, signature and certification clause.
Which documents are translated for Nostrifikation
For Nostrifikation or recognition the diploma alone is rarely enough. Universities and authorities want to trace the whole educational path.
Diploma and degree certificate
Bachelor, master, doctorate or university diploma, with faculty, field of study and date of award.
Transcript and grade record
All courses with grades, weekly hours or credits and the overall average, often several pages.
School leaving certificate (Tawjihi, Thanawiya)
The secondary school certificate with all subjects and marks for university admission in Austria.
Curricula and confirmations
Study plans, internship confirmations and professional certificates, frequently required for healthcare professions.
Grading scales, terminology and other pitfalls
Certificates demand more care than any other document: the translation must mirror the structure of the original without inventing Austrian grades. The assessment is made by the university or ENIC NARIC Austria, not by the translation.
- Grading scales are reproduced as they appear in the original, whether percentages, marks out of a hundred or terms such as mumtaz and jayyid jiddan. We translate the term and add the original scale as a note, without converting to the Austrian system.
- Subject names and fields of study are rendered literally and with correct terminology so the recognition body can classify the degree unambiguously.
- Name and date of birth are transliterated exactly as in the passport, otherwise the diploma will not match your other documents.
- Hijri dates, handwritten additions, university and ministry of education stamps are reproduced in full, with illegible passages marked as illegible.
Apostille or legalisation for educational documents
Universities and ENIC NARIC Austria frequently require the diploma to be authenticated before translation. Common practice:
- Syria, Iraq, Egypt, Jordan and Lebanon are, to our knowledge, not party to the Hague Apostille Convention. The usual route is legalisation: ministry of education, foreign ministry of the country of origin, then the Austrian representation there.
- Gulf states: Saudi Arabia, Oman and Bahrain generally work with the apostille, while the United Arab Emirates, Qatar and Kuwait usually require legalisation.

Frequently asked questions about diploma translation
Answered briefly.
Nostrifikation is the formal equivalence of a foreign degree with an Austrian one, granted by a university or university of applied sciences. An assessment by ENIC NARIC Austria is an expert statement that classifies the degree and is often sufficient for employers. Both require certified translations.
For Nostrifikation and most recognition procedures the complete transcript is required. Ask the responsible office exactly which documents are needed, and we translate accordingly.
For healthcare professions the authorities usually also require curricula, internship confirmations and the professional certificate from the country of origin. We translate these documents together and keep the terminology consistent.
No, the translation reproduces the original scale and explains it in a note. Conversion and assessment are done by the university or recognition body.
Yes, we translate Arabic, English and German in all combinations. An English diploma from an Arabic university is translated into German, the Arabic part from the Arabic.
For one to five pages usually one to three working days from order confirmation, longer transcripts accordingly more. Express is available on request; just tell us your application deadline.
